Petaluma Footrace
Preparing for the Petaluma Footrace

To ensure an enjoyable experience:

  • Bring warm clothes - Temperatures will often be chilly leading up to the start of the race, so it is important to dress in layers.
  •  Wear appropriate shoes - Running shoes or cross-training shoes are recommended.
  •  Physical preparation - A lot can be said for getting in a few runs or jogs prior to race day. It is a good idea to go distances that are slightly longer than the 3 or 5-mile run/walk that you will be completing.
  • Drink plenty of fluids - It is important to stay hydrated during and after any physical activity.
  • Get energized - Foods rich in carbohydrates will serve you well. We also provide healthy snacks and refreshments at the event.
  • Stretch those muscles - This is the best way to prevent any injury or soreness. Hold each stretch for at least 15 seconds.
  • HAVE FUN - Engaging in physical activity is proven to increase the level of endorphins in your body; and endorphins create happiness! So combined with a great raffle, great people, and great entertainment - if you're not having fun, we may have a problem.
